Now you can now Helen Ansell’s Black Swans as a 100%cotton tea towel!
The Black Swan (Cygnus atratus) is a large nomadic waterbird of the Southwest and Southeast of Australia, which follows climatic conditions. It breeds monogamously, with both partners sharing incubation and cygnet-rearing duties. It can be found singly, or in loose companies of hundreds or even thousands.
It is almost exclusively herbivorous, with a diet dominated by aquatic and marshland plants. When it dips its head and neck in shallow water it is able to keep its head flat along the bottom while its body is horizontal.
It nests in a large heap or mound of reeds in the wetter months, occasionally in large colonies; nests are reused every year.
It is shown here amongst water lilies (Nymphaea gigantea)Â with a backdrop of Bulrush (Typha orientalis) and underneath Red Bottlebrush (Melaleuca citrina).
