Chequered Swallowtail Fine Art Paper Print

Chequered Swallowtail was inspired by the butterflies Helen noticed while packing up her father Don’s home after his passing. Among the familiar butterflies around the property were striking yellow-and-black swallowtails, which became the starting point for this painting.

Helen brought the butterfly together with flowers growing in Don’s own garden, including pigface and Geraldton wax, creating a work rooted in a very particular place and memory.

The original painting formed part of Helen’s 2026 exhibition, A Walk in the Wildflowers – A Homage to My Father and the Country We Love, a collection shaped by the landscapes, plants, wildlife and memories Helen shared with her father.

1. Small – 30 x 30cm including white border of 5cm (made to fit a 30 x 30cm frame) – Actual image size is 20x20cm.
2. Medium – 40 x 40cm including white border of 5cm – Actual image size is 30x30cm.
3. Large  – 50 x 50cm including white border of 5cm – Actual image size is 40x40cm.
