“Geraldton Wax” original painting, acrylic on canvas, 50 x 50cm.
The Geraldton Wax gets its name from the coastal City of Geraldton in Western Australia (where I live as Mullewa which is 100km inland is actually part of the Greater City of Geraldton).
They have “waxy” petals and their unique shape and texture makes them a popular plant Australia wide. There are somewhere around 30 species of Wax Flowers with different colours such as the pink, purple, white and orange ones featured in my painting. I wanted to include the Western Yellow Robin to bring a pop of yellow amongst the other pretty shades!
