Description

There are 11 species of Kangaroo Paws (Anigozanthos) however the “Black Kangaroo Paw” (Macropidia fuliginosa) is not actually a Kangaroo Paw but a single species of it’s own and the only one of it’s kind!
Bearing unusual black and green flowers, it occurs on a coastal plain from Perth to Geraldton and is the floral emblem for Eneabba which is a town close to my hometown of Mullewa.
The bird featured here is the New Holland Honey Eater.
