“Like it’s common name, these beetles glisten and shine like mini jewels. I remember as a kid in the Meekatharra outdoor roller skating rink we used to pick these beetles up and put them on our jumpers where they would stay like brooches as we skated around the yard. While I have normally used birds as a focal point in my floral paintings, I thought that these little guys were cute enough to be a feature in this one.” Helen Ansell
This shrub is mostly leaves with a green / white / cream flower in May through to September.
It grows in the Mid-West of Western Australia, north of the Murchison River, as far south as the Greenough River, and inland to Yuna. It is found amongst low trees or tall scrubland or heath-land. It grows in soils that are sandy or loamy on sand-plains, dunes or breakaway areas.
