Pink Spider Orchid (Caladenia harringtoniae) Western Australia is rich in orchids and is home to 470 species – that is more than is found in the whole of Europe where there are approximately 250 wild orchid species found!) And 95% of Western Australia’s orchids are found nowhere else in the world.

The Spider Orchid is named after its spider like appearance. The most common variety is the White Spider Orchid – the Pink one is found in the South West Of Western Australia. It is not common and is listed as Threatened Flora. It is somewhat similar to the Cherry Spider Orchid, but is smaller and has much darker pink petals and is found in swampy areas, rather than in sand dunes.
