Description
Rainbow lorikeets are one of Australia’s most vibrant and energetic birds, instantly recognisable for their vivid plumage and constant movement through flowering trees. Unlike most parrots, they have a specialised brush-tipped tongue designed for feeding on nectar and pollen, allowing them to move easily between blossoms and play an important role in pollinating native species such as eucalyptus.
Highly social and often seen in noisy flocks, lorikeets bring life and movement to both bushland and suburban environments. They dart, climb and hang upside down to reach flowers, thriving wherever there is an abundance of flowering gums. Their presence is a familiar and lively part of the Australian landscape, adding colour and energy to everyday surroundings.
