Description
The silvereye (Zosterops lateralis) is a very small bird of the south-west Pacific, having a conspicuous ring of feathers around the eye. In Australia they are mainly found in the wheat/sugar belts and adjoining coast regions of Western, Southern and Eastern states. Being omnivorous they feed on both insects as well as fruit and nectar. In late summer, many of them gather into flocks and migrate North. Eremophilia youngii is widespread in a variety of habitats between Kalgoorlie and Exmouth. Its bell shaped flowers are a natural food source for the Silver Eye.
