Thanksgiving Flowers II is the second of three original paintings inspired by the native flower arrangement from Don’s funeral Thanksgiving service.

Helen kept the bouquet after the funeral and allowed the Australian native flowers to dry naturally. Having always loved dried Australian flower arrangements, she was drawn to the changing forms, colours and textures of the flowers and used the arrangement as the inspiration for three individual works. Thanksgiving Flowers II is Helen’s own interpretation of those flowers rather than a literal recreation of the bouquet.

The dried bouquet itself forms part of A Walk in the Wildflowers and is displayed as one of the personal objects accompanying the paintings, allowing visitors to see the arrangement that inspired all three Thanksgiving Flowers works.

Created for Helen’s 2026 exhibition, A Walk in the Wildflowers – A Homage to My Father and the Country We Love, Thanksgiving Flowers II is the second work in the Thanksgiving Flowers series.
